Computer-aided translation
- Machine translation systems cannot compete with human translation but they can be very helpful would you need to understand the general meaning of a document (newspaper articles online, forum posts, etc.). Most of them are paying programs. However, you can use some of them online to translate short texts ( SYSTRAN, Altavista's Babelfish Translation, Google translator, etc.).
- Many (human) translators use translation memory programs, such as Trados, Wordfast (free), Déja Vu or Transit. I have used Transit.
